Project description
The goal of the project was to develop a city development plan with the character of a self-commitment from the city government that makes sense under the existing conditions. The program will only make sense if it functions as a training and consulting project (institution building and project monitoring) over a 3-5 year period. The process of building a city plan must be successfully executed from within the municipal region. The cooperation and integration between local bodies (municipality, city authorities) and international bodies (UNMIK, LOGO, Habitat, etc) is absolutely necessary for the fulfillment of the project goals.
The project aimed at supporting Suva Reka in establishing a new urban development programme and was structured as follows:
  • Step 1: Development of a feasibility study and a detailed project plan
  • Step 2: Preparation of a survey, drafting an urban development concept and participation of stakeholders and inhabitants in the planning process
  • Step 3: Preparation and realisation of a training programme for local experts in urban planning
  • Step 4: Schedule monitoring, particularly for the strategic level
