Project description
The European Union has changed since 2004. The votes of our neighbour countries show a strong positive opinion towards the enlargement. In the old Member States, many citizens are aprehensive about what they see as the potential negative effects. The depiction of this momentous opportunity was often abstract and difficult to understand. Therefore, a set of arguments concerning the enlargement has been prepared for the EUREGIOforum (network of institutions in the field of regional developement of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Austria). Effects of the EU enlargement on border regions have been analysed concerning the following topics: job market, education, culture, agriculture, conditions for policy making & negotiations, regional development, environment, transport & infrastructure, economy and tourism.
