The eastern enlargement of the EU has dramitically increased the need for cross-border regional cooperation. Strong networks are vital for regions to maintain a competitive edge in this new European context. These networks can include cross-border cooperation between companies and/or between municipalities and cities as well as coordination between funding and development institutions.
