Networking

The eastern enlargement of the EU has dramitically increased the need for cross-border regional cooperation. Strong networks are vital for regions to maintain a competitive edge in this new European context. These networks can include cross-border cooperation between companies and/or between municipalities and cities as well as coordination between funding and development institutions.

Some examples of what mecca offers are:
  • Analysis of the current 'status quo'
  • Definition of common cross-border development strategies
  • Development of supra-regional cooperation models
  • Creation of models for the sustainable realization of development strategies
  • Setting-up of partnerships between micro regions ("Kleinregionen") in border areas
  • Periodical information events and meetings with the network partners
  • Setting-up of city networks as cross-border platforms with long-term operating solutions (incl. common services for partner cities, benchmarking, contacts etc.)
  • Publication of materials for principal areas of development within/between network cities
  • Establishing a forum for the (cross-border) exchange of ideas
  • Identifying opportunities for transnational projects within the network and offering expertise and support to the projects
